Torrent frogs spend their time near fast-moving streams. You might think this was a bad idea for a fairly small frog. What if they fall into the fast-moving streams? Won't they be knocked around and carried far downstream? But they are great swimmers and have very strong grips, so they think nothing of escaping predators by jumping into the water, swimming hard to some nearby slippery moss-covered boulder, and then casually grabbing on with their toe pads and climbing to safety.

My Travelogues and Trip Lists page includes a complete list of the herps I saw in the wild on this trip to Malaysia, as well as a travelogue of the trip.

Larut Torrent Frog (Amolops larutensis)
Amolops larutensis are widespread and common in Peninsular Malaysia, as long as you look near fast-moving streams.
