Bolitoglossa conanti

Conant’s Mushroomtongue Salamander

This cute li'l salamander is described as "endemic to Honduras" in various places, but it also makes it into extreme eastern Guatemala, where we found this one individual. The lighter markings near the base of the tail are one clue to the ID. It's named after Roger Conant, the American herpetologist most famous to the general public as the author of several editions of the iconic Peterson Field Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians of Eastern and Central North America.
Here is a list of all the reptiles and frogs I saw on this trip to Guatemala.
