Coniophanes fissidens
—
Brown Spotbelly Snake, Yellowbelly Snake
Also known as:
Brown Spotbelly
We found this snake in the leaf litter near the southern end of its range, which extends north up into Mexico. The distinctive spots on its upper and lower lip scales are also present on its belly. Otherwise it might have been called Spot-lipped Snake, though there's another species claiming that name already.
