Hyalinobatrachium viridissimum
—
Northern Glass Frog

My guide Fred Muller found this Kermit-like frog on the far side of a shallow river. He brought it back to me for photos. I would have gone through the river to join him but my rubber boots were torn up and thus not river-worthy (long story). This frog is easy to identify because it's the only glass frog in Guatemala.
Here is a list of all the reptiles and frogs I saw on this trip to Guatemala.

We found these two glass frogs near a creek on a hot dry morning. The wet season should have kicked in by this date, but it had failed to do so. My guide Fred Muller suggested that the lack of rain could have led to desperation that caused these frogs to be active during the heat of day. (I know the second one doesn't look very active, but it was hopping about when I first spotted it.)
