Litoria dahlii — Dahl’s Aquatic Frog
Some other names for this species:
Northern Waterfrog, Dahl’s Olive Treefrog, Dahl’s Tree Frog, Floodplain Frog, Northern Lagoon Frog
I am pretty sure that this handsome frog is Litoria dahlii, but it has enough differences from the others that I saw the next day that Im not completely certain. A fine-looking frog by any name though.
Ive written up an account of this three-week trip to Australia here.
And here are the first ones that I saw on the next day. I saw these frogs floating in the muck directly below an observation platform that had until a few minutes earlier been the resting grounds of a Green Tree Snake. From this angle its easy to see the way that their eyes are angled upward, handy for when the frog is floating just under the waters surface with only its eyes protruding.
