Ninia diademata
—
Ringneck Coffee Snake

The most commonly seen snake in Guatemala by far is supposedly Ninia sebae. My guide Fred Muller and I failed to see one in three weeks, despite looking in many places where Fred had seen them many times. So clearly they do not exist. But we did see this one much rarer close relative. Fred keeps sending me photos of what he claims are Ninia sebae that he found after I went back home, but I know better.
Here is a list of all the reptiles and frogs I saw on this trip to Guatemala.
