Species:
Plethodon chattahoochee
Chattahoochee Slimy Salamander
May 6, 2004
Sosebee Cove Scenic Area, Union County, Georgia

This was my first trip to northern Georgia, and we had been camping and hiking for about two days without seeing a single salamander. Since this area is known for its huge quantity and diversity of salamanders, I was beginning to feel cursed. Sosebee Cove was the cure to my salamander-free woes; within an hour or so I had seen at least twenty salamanders of at least four or five species. This was the largest of the bunch.
This was split off from the species Plethodon glutinosus recently, and most books still include it in that species.
