Pristimantis glandulosus
—
Glandular Rainfrog
Also known as:
Ecuador Robber Frog
This was one of the three Pristimantis species that we found in this forest, each in large numbers. The other two were Pristimantis kayi and Pristimantis devillei. Fortunately the three species were easy to distinguish from each other.
The nearly circular smooth extra-yellow patches on the heads were only on some individuals, all of them small, so I suspect this is a feature of some (but apparently not all) juveniles. The first one pictured here was considerably larger than the other two.
