Pristimantis mindo

Mindo Rainfrog
On the first afternoon of my Tropical Herping tour of Ecuador, my guide Frank Pichardo and I hung out at the lodge waiting for a break in the rain. It never stopped, but in the early evening it had at least died down enough for us to head out into the lodge grounds and see what we could find. Our first herps of the trip were a few of these big-eyed frogs that dwelled just outside the dining room. We saw them again here on the following nights, but we never saw them anywhere else.
