Rhinocheilus antonii — Mexican Long-nosed Snake
Also known as:
Mexican Longnose Snake
The long-nosed snakes near Álamos are particularly attractive. They were once classified as a subspecies, R. lecontei antonii, before some spoilsport taxonomist decided that all of the subspecies were invalid. But then another taxonomist came along and not only resurrected antonii but even promoted it to a full species.
Another from the next night was not quite as distinctively patterned or colored.
