Ranitomeya variabilis
—
Variable Poison Frog
Also known as:
Zimmerman’s Poison Frog
My excellent guide Amanda Quezada had spent a good half an hour unsuccessfully searching for this particular species in some good habitat on the grounds of our lodge. After deciding that no Variable Poison Frogs were to be found in that habitat, we walked about ten feet away and some non-herper lodge guest said "hey, there's a frog right here on the trail". Indeed there was.
