Trachycephalus jordani
—
Jordan’s Casque-headed Tree Frog
Also known as:
Jordan’s Bone-headed Treefrog
This is probably the silliest looking frog I saw in Ecuador. As Amphibians of Ecuador puts it: “Trachycephalus jordani is unique among hylid frogs in Ecuador by having a casqued head with the skin of the head ossified with the underlying rugose dermal bones of the skull.” That's herpetologist for “silly looking”.
